The School Council is made up of two children, one girl and one boy, from each of our year groups. The children have been elected by their classmates to represent them. The School Council meets regularly to discuss a variety of ideas, views and concerns that have been expressed to the councillors. There are also occasions when projetcs are brought to the School Council for consideration.
After hearing suggestions from the classes, every Mini-Bud now has their own cap, there is a rota for Mini-Buds in each class and we have a Buddy Bus Stop.
Every class now has a Bright Ideas Box. Any thoughts or suggestions that children have, can be written down and placed in the box. Members of the School Council will bring the ideas to their next meeting.
We are about to embark on a project to make all children more aware of e-safety issues. Members will be reporting to our school governors about the work they do.
The Backpack Project
Many thanks to all those who have contributed items to help to fill backpacks and to those who have given in completed backpacks. We are especially grateful to Mrs Hannan and Mrs Manley, who introduced the project to us and did so much to support it.
The backpacks will be sent to children who are in need of equipment for school, in countries such as Malawi and Liberia. We have a grand total of 45 to send off.
Another big thank you.
Lottery Bid
The village put in a bid to gain £50,000 of funding towards play equipment, for the play park by the playing field in Newton Poppleford.
Some children took part in filming for West Country Television and the clip was shown on Monday 23rd November. We were thrilled with the announcement on Tuesday 24th November that we have won. Well done everyone involved, for all the hard work. Within school the children have been voting for the sort of equipment they would like and plans for the site should be shown to us soon.
