Newton Poppleford Primary School are looking for a caring Mealtime Play Assistant (MTPA) who can lead play, interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times. You will be required to work for one and a quarter hours per day (12:00 – 13:15) Monday to Friday (days negotiable if more than one candidate wishes to share the role).
The main duties of the role are:
- To set up and lead play activities in the playground;
- To co-ordinate play for pupils;
- To assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime;
- To support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using your initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made.
Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers.

Governor position
We are looking for one local authority governor to join our governing board and would love to attract an individual who has the skills and experience to contribute to the success of our school. We currently have enough parent governors, but grandparents and other community members would be welcome to get in touch, please spread the word!
Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role where you can make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board level environment.

- Experience of school governance
- Experience working in education
- Knowledge and understanding of SEND
- The ability to look at issues objectively
- The confidence to ask questions and join in debates
- A willingness to listen and make informed judgements
- The ability to work well with others
