PTFA Update Report! (2020/21)

We thought you would like to know what the PTFA has been up to in the first half of this school year! We’ve been busy trying to fundraise despite another lockdown or two, a school closure, and in line with government guidelines and school policy. It’s been very sad not to hold our normal big events like bonfire night, Christmas fair, and Easter eggstravaganza, but it hasn’t stopped us!

What have we raised this year so far?

£48 donation from Beauty Box

£50 donation from The Gardens Airbnb

£177 from our half term pumpkin trail

£623 from buying the children’s Christmas cards

£336 from our Bag2School clothing collection

£450 from the Christmas hamper raffle

£60 from the Christmas bear hunt trail

£50 so far from our Terracycle crisp packet recycling

And some of our weekly school lottery winners have generously donated their winnings to the PTFA!

We are also delighted to announce that we have secured a £1,000 grant from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme! This money will go towards providing an outdoor weather-proof classroom in Adventure Island, meaning that the area can be used for year round learning and play.

What have we been spending it on?

The school have gratefully been spending all this hard earned cash on our children! We have funded the loose part play equipment (crates, ropes, planks, tarpaulins etc) that the children have been using at break times to let their imaginations run wild. We have bought nearly fifty new books for the library that promote cultural diversity for all the year groups, and we provided crafting supplies for every class for some messy Christmas crafting sessions.

We also had an incredible donation from one set of parents, which the PTFA topped up, to enable the purchase of a whole school subscription to Spelling Frame, a brilliant tool both for home learning and back in the classroom!

Thank you!

The PTFA are so grateful to all the parents, carers, grandparents, and staff who help us fundraise to support our children’s learning, we couldn’t do it without your generosity and dedication, thank you.

About the PTFA

The PTFA is the parent, teacher and friends association; all staff, parents, grandparents and carers of children in the school are automatically members. And we're pretty awesome. The PTFA organises fundraising events to help support the staff and pupils at the school, providing resources, equipment, activities and school trips. Schools are desperately underfunded by the government and sadly our contribution is vital to support our children's educational experience.

In the last couple of years we have funded staging and lighting for the hall and new dictionaries and thesauruses for the classrooms. We regularly supply water bottles and crafting resources and we have arranged for yoga workshops, dance classes, and pottery lessons. We have funded numerous school trips including sending the school choir to the Voice In A Million event in London and sending the whole school to the theatre to see a pantomime, oh yes we did! We are currently building a school allotment, a sensory garden, and funding a whole host of improvements to the outside spaces of our beautiful school grounds.

The PTFA is a registered charity headed by a committee, elected annually at the AGM, but you don't need to be a committee member to get involved! Look out for opportunities to bake, donate, volunteer, attend a meeting, or share your fundraising ideas. Approach a committee member in the playground (they don't bite!) or contact them via email (committee members emails above) or via the school office.

2018/19/20 Outside Spaces Campaign

This year the PTFA are fundraising to improve our school's Outside Spaces, and our plans include creating a Wildflower Meadow, Sensory Garden, and Fitness Trail. This project will be ongoing as we landscape our new school grounds over the next few years.

We remain committed to providing classroom resources, school trips, and other enhancements to our children’s learning experience alongside this wider campaign.
