The PTFA
We're going on a Christmas Bear Hunt!
A new trail for the festive season! Open 18th-24th December. Take in the twinkly lights and enter the prize draw, £1 each, honesty box and trail sheets outside No 42, King Alfred Way, Newton Poppleford.
Thank you! You donated a mountain of bags for the Bag2School clothing collection! It was actually 1,120kg, well over a tonne of clothing, which is absolutely incredible! This equates to £336 raised for the PTFA, an amazing total, thank you so much for your support!
***2020 Update***
Dear lovely supporters of the PTFA,
Well last year was a bit of a disaster wasn't it!? The PTFA was able to hold a small fraction of their normal fundraising activities and events and it has hit us hard financially. For this year 2020/21 we are not expecting to be able to hold many if any of our usual big events, it turns out we organise quite a lot of mass gatherings!
But we are bursting with ideas for covid safe fundraising and can't wait to get started! So if you can support our efforts this year, by organising, donating, or simply taking part, please do. Details of what's going on will be sent out in the School Matters newsletter, the parents Facebook group, and in bookbags. There is a virtual meeting ongoing via WhatsApp, if you would like to be added to this group, please contact Teri 07909 798441.

The PTFA is the parent, teacher and friends association; all staff, parents, grandparents and carers of children in the school are automatically members. And we're pretty awesome. The PTFA organises fundraising events to help support the staff and pupils at the school, providing resources, equipment, activities and school trips. Schools are desperately underfunded by the government and sadly our contribution is vital to support our children's educational experience.
In the last couple of years we have funded staging and lighting for the hall and new dictionaries and thesauruses for the classrooms. We regularly supply water bottles and crafting resources and we have arranged for yoga workshops, dance classes, and pottery lessons. We have funded numerous school trips including sending the school choir to the Voice In A Million event in London and sending the whole school to the theatre to see a pantomime, oh yes we did! We are currently building a school allotment, a sensory garden, and funding a whole host of improvements to the outside spaces of our beautiful school grounds.
The PTFA is a registered charity headed by a committee, elected annually at the AGM, but you don't need to be a committee member to get involved! Look out for opportunities to bake, donate, volunteer, attend a meeting, or share your fundraising ideas. Approach a committee member in the playground (they don't bite!) or contact them via email (committee members emails above) or via the school office.
2018/19/20 Outside Spaces Campaign
This year the PTFA are fundraising to improve our school's Outside Spaces, and our plans include creating a Wildflower Meadow, Sensory Garden, and Fitness Trail. This project will be ongoing as we landscape our new school grounds over the next few years.
We remain committed to providing classroom resources, school trips, and other enhancements to our children’s learning experience alongside this wider campaign.
My Name Tags
For every order of personalised labels for children's clothing and equipment, My Nametags.com will contribute 20% to the school. The more orders My Nametags receives the more it will donate. Please help us to return lost clothing and support the school's fundraising efforts by placing an order for labels with My Nametags. Every order placed when clicking on this link will be counted in the fundraising total for our school.
