Mealtime Play Assistants
Newton Poppleford Primary School are looking for multiple, caring, Mealtime Play Assistants (MTPA) who can lead play, interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times. You will be required to work for one and a quarter hours per day, Monday to Friday (days negotiable if more than one candidate wishes to share the role). The main duties of the role are: - To set up and lead play activities in the playground; - To co-ordinate play for pupils; - To assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime; - To support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using your initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made. Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers. Personal Assistant to the Governing Body

This is a fantastic role for those who are looking for flexibility in their working hours and the ability to manage their own time. This role also allows you to work predominantly from home (there is a requirement to attend half termly governing body meetings and occasional ad hoc committee meetings) and you will be provided with equipment to enable you to do so. 

Newton Poppleford Primary School has a strong ethos of collaboration and support and is looking for someone who will fit into our dedicated team . We are seeking an organised and competent individual to provide administrative support and advice to our Governing Board and Chair of Governors. We are a thriving, one-form entry, maintained school and pre-school located 20 minutes from Exeter and just outside Sidmouth. Your role will be crucial to help the Governors carry out their responsibilities and to play their part in supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team. You will need to be an excellent communicator and knowledgeable individual.

The main responsibilities of the role include providing advice, support and guidance to the Governing Board and effective organisation and administration of Board and Committee meetings. This work is vital in supporting the wider school and requires outstanding organisational skills and effective minuting.

Governor position

We are looking for one local authority governor to join our governing board and would love to attract an individual who has the skills and experience to contribute to the success of our school. We currently have enough parent governors, but grandparents and other community members would be welcome to get in touch, please spread the word! 

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role where you can make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board level environment. 

We would especially like to hear from you if you have: 

  • Experience of school governance 
  • Experience working in education 
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND   
  • The ability to look at issues objectively 
  • The confidence to ask questions and join in debates 
  • A willingness to listen and make informed judgements 
  • The ability to work well with others 
  • Willingness to dedicate your time and undertake training.
We play an important part in raising school standards through our three key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evaluating school performance. As a board, we actively engage with the school, to enable us to effectively provide support and challenge to the Headteacher and the leadership team.
