Healthy Schools Award
Our school attained this status in 2008, by demonstrating our commitment to developing, maintaining and promoting the health of the members of our school community.
The School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme
Under this scheme, funded by the Department of Health, four to six year old children at our school are entitled to a free piece of fruit or vegetable, each school day. The children in Class AT, Class GH and Class HC are all able to have snack at break time.
Fruit Stall
Year Six children usually run a fruit stall at morning break times. The children are responsible for buying, preparing, pricing and selling the fruit. Children in Key Stage Two are able to purchase a snack from the stall. Due to restrictions the fruit stall is not, at present, in action.
Fresh Start Menu
Devon has been awarded the Food For Life Bronze Catering Mark and this recognises that school children are being offered delicious, healthy and climate friendly school dinners. Fresh Start Menus are made available to parents and children and these weekly menues are based around providing 'a good quality balanced meal using freshly prepared ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible.'
Pantosaurus
The NSPCC Talking PANTS teaches children important messages, like their body belongs to them and they should tell an adult if they're upset or worried. More information can be found at www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-children-safe/underwear-rule/ where a Parent's Guide can be downloaded. The Guide is also available at the foot of this page.
