Newton Poppleford Primary School are looking for a caring Mealtime Play Assistant (MTPA) who can lead play, interact with the children and undertake the responsibility of supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times. You will be required to work for one and a half hours a day, Monday to Friday (days negotiable if more than one candidate wishes to share the role).
The main duties of the role are:
- To set up and lead play activities in the playground;
- To co-ordinate play for pupils;
- To assist with the well-being of pupils during lunchtime;
- To support the supervision of children during lunch and play, using your initiative to ensure caring quality provision is continuously made.
Experience of working with children is not essential, just the passion to help improve the life chances of children within a school environment whilst being prepared to work inside and outside in all weathers.

Newton Poppleford Primary School are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated individual to join our school.
The post will be 1-1 work, in Year 3.
You will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills, as well as the ability to motivate children to do their best. You will be patient, understanding, and responsive, and able to build positive relationships with children, while establishing consistent boundaries. A willingness to work as part of a team, as well as taking your own initiative when required, is essential. Recent training in and an understanding of supporting children’s social and emotional development and Autism would be beneficial, as would experience of working in a school environment.
The post is a fixed term commencing as soon as possible and is based on current funding. The post is for 25-26.25 hours per week.There could possibly be additional hours for a suitably qualified candidate as Meal Time Assistant and also in our After School Club.
