SENDCO

Newton Poppleford Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated professional to join our team as a SENDCO. There is also the possibility of a leadership role for the right individual. This position is available for the summer term initially.

The post is fixed term due to a need for cover for a vacancy pending a permanent appointment.

Teaching Assistant Level 2: Full-time (27.5hrs per week) Fixed Term; contract end 24/07/2024
General TA duties as well as working with children with special educational needs.
Pay rate: £11.79-£11.98/hour

You will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills, as well as the ability to motivate children to
do their best. You will be patient, understanding, and responsive, and able to build positive
relationships with children, while establishing consistent boundaries. A willingness to work as part of
a team, as well as taking your own initiative when required, is essential. Training and development
will be provided and we welcome applications from those looking for a change or new challenge as
well as those with experience of working with children in school settings.

Governor position

We are looking for one local authority governor to join our governing board and would love to attract an individual who has the skills and experience to contribute to the success of our school. We currently have enough parent governors, but grandparents and other community members would be welcome to get in touch, please spread the word! 

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role where you can make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board level environment. 

We would especially like to hear from you if you have: 

  • Experience of school governance 
  • Experience working in education 
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND   
  • The ability to look at issues objectively 
  • The confidence to ask questions and join in debates 
  • A willingness to listen and make informed judgements 
  • The ability to work well with others 
  • Willingness to dedicate your time and undertake training.
We play an important part in raising school standards through our three key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evaluating school performance. As a board, we actively engage with the school, to enable us to effectively provide support and challenge to the Headteacher and the leadership team.
